Album of the moment

This featured album is Dave Mason's "Mariposa de Oro". I found this album, I remember seeing it in at someones's house a long time ago. I put it on and I think I have never heard a side of an album that touched me so. It ends with "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", which has been said by some as the most beautiful rendition of that song.
Dave Mason came from England met Steve Winwood and eventually formed the group Traffic. He left and then returned about a year later, writing alot of their songs. Winwood left and went to Blind Faith (it just amazes me as I research some of these albums, how inter-connected everyone was.) Mason then went on to join Jimi Hendrix in "Experience". I see that Mason is 6 degrees of separation from my first pick The Lovin' Spoonful who worked with The Mamas and the Papas and Dave also worked with Cass Elliot, making the album Dave Mason and Cass Elliot. It's all cool. Listen and be delighted.

The Lovin' Spoonful

Did you know that The Lovin' Spoonful were the band that creators had in mind for the show that would later become the Monkees? The Spoonful was a folk group from the 60's. The original members included Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty that later left and helped form "The Mamas and the Papa"s"! Did you know that when "The Grateful Dead" who considered themselves folksingers saw the "The Lovin' Spoonful" in the bay area they decide to become "electric". Haha. Wonder why? The Lovin' Spoonful is mostly known for "Do You Believe in Magic" which I hopefully will have a tape on here soon. Continue to check my blog for new albums!! Keep the 60's and 70's music alive fo your children!!!!

Since my dear sister-in-law allowed me to have my wonderful mother-in-law's Magnavox stereo console circa 1950's, I have tremendously enjoyed my new extensive LP collection. On my blog I will proceed to here and there feature an album with it's history, value and contribution to this wonderful world. Follow if you will. My first album will be "The Best of the Lovin' Spoonful". Why? Because I love the cover.
